Z-fold describes a folded sheet shape. Perforation describes a line designed to let connected material separate. They are not simply two quality grades, and the terms alone do not tell you how reliably a pack releases one wipe. To understand dispensing, look at how the sheets are arranged and how the opening interacts with them.
Start with the folded sheet
A Z-shaped fold says something about the way an individual sheet is folded. It does not, by itself, explain whether neighboring sheets overlap or how the next sheet is presented.
In an interfolded arrangement, adjacent sheets are positioned to help present the next sheet as one is withdrawn. That is a description of the arrangement, not a promise that every pull will behave identically.
Understand what a perforation does
A perforation creates a planned separation line between connected sections. The user still needs the connection to separate at the intended place rather than bring out an unwanted length or tear elsewhere.
Plushwipes Fragrance Free 50ct uses perforations between wipes to support one-at-a-time dispensing. That manufacturer design fact does not establish a universal success rate or superiority over every interfolded pack.
Consider the whole system
As an engineering explanation, sheet arrangement, opening resistance, pack support, and pulling direction belong in the same problem. Changing one part can change the interaction with the others.
A pack that slides while being opened presents a different task from one held steadily. A sheet that is hard to locate presents a different problem from one whose next section will not separate. Avoid diagnosing both as merely a bad fold.
Compare using the same task
A proposed comparison could observe ordinary intended pulls from full, partly used, and nearly empty packs. Record single-sheet releases, unwanted extra sheets, tears, and instances where the next sheet cannot be reached easily.
This is a suggested evaluation, not a test already performed by Plushwipes. Results would belong to the specific products and conditions studied, not automatically to every pack with the same fold name.
Choose the interaction you need
Do not buy by fold terminology alone. Look for clear directions and evidence about the complete dispensing system.
